Fellow Luftsick member Kari "Alhoracing" Alhonen visited VW Spring Jamboree in 1993 while he was on a trip
to California. Even though this event was held 7 years ago, the cars featured here are still cool as ever and I chose to
publish the photos. Most of the cars are well known from magazines of early 90's.
The famous Scot Smith from German Folks. This car was featured in Volksworld with title "EMPI your pockets". The car is simply
unbelievable it has genuine EMPI everything; BRM wheels, GT Steering Wheel, Eliminator shifter, gauges, bumber bars, license
plate frames, GTV badges, door pulls etc. Then there is the usual cabrio lid hot engine, top quality restoration etc.
These Sonderbusses feel like they are bit out of date today or is it just my imagination that glittering Resto Customs aren't
so popular anymore.
Pair of really nice Karman Ghia Cabrios. Lenny Copp was DKP member at that time with his '58 Ghia on the left.
I still get some good vibes from this Telephone Dial-fitted Porsche Caribbean Blue '55 Oval Cabrio of Carl Ramos.
Der Kleiner Panzers
And speaking of the good vibes. I usually don't waste my time envying other people, but now it seems would be perfect time
to go and cut my wrists :-) I sure wish that someday I might be able to see this bunch of cars live. The green '64 belongs
to Dave Rhoads and as we all know it has looked ages like this.
The black '62 below is Dave Mason's and it inspired Alhoracing to built a duplicate of the car. Too bad there are not any
more shots of the cars, I would have liked to include Hector Bonilla's '67 to my site, which is one of my favourite lookers
of all time. The titty-contest must have been visited prior the cars and Kari has run out of film, that is the only explanation
I can imagine :-)
Bojoingg!
If the cars didn't make you mess your pants..
