After visiting the Bug Show event in famous Spa-Francochamps racetrack in Belgian Ardennies last
year for the first time, I just knew I had to return. VW Euro may have the best swapmeet I have
been to, but as a whole VW event nothing can probably beat Spa in the continental Europe.
I would like to thank Bob, Kobus, Fast-Freddy and Laurent for really good time over there. Special
thanks to Kobus and Freddy for the Thursday evening in Brussels and the Chez Leon experience :-)
Bob van Heyst collection
I had a rental car and full day of time to kill during the Friday so I joined Kobus and Laurent along with
Pål when they headed to BBT near Antwerpen to pick up Kobus'
shipment from States. I had visited the BBT premises and Bob van Heyst's private collection couple of
years before during the '99 West Coast Aircoolers Summer Tour,
so I was quite excited in meeting Bob and seeing the shop again.
Bob's line of 20 something Splits including few cabrios and one Hebmuller.
Bob's Hebmuller project and his other Rometsch. This is the only sunroof-Rometsch I have ever seen including
books and magazines, I have only seen two of these later models in real.

Kobus posing in front of super wide 5-lug chrome Sprint Stars for Bob's 70's buggy-project, Laurent The Boss
and Pål Rui listening to another great story from Bob.
Like Bob would put it: "Another shitty day in Belgium. Right?" Well actually not bad at all.
Shots from machining shop where Bob used to be a partner, he has sold his share to the workers of the shop
and now they're supplier to BBT among other things.
Cylinder heads and crank from quite impressive 2+ litre engine project for a really mad trike.
Beetle chassis, engine and transmission cut-away built apparently for some educational purposes.
Denzel engine, note weird cyliner heads (or as much as there is visible), shape of the exhaust port
and the location of the spark plug.
Mystery garage..
356A, Aaronson-style engine lid, massive number of NOS parts, sheetmetal, accessories.. mad.
