Micael Äkto from Sweden sent me these photos and short description of his current rides..
'50 Split Window
"I bought the Split few years ago, it was very solid and complete with all
hard to find parts. Today the crashbox, 25hp engine and original frontbeam
are resting in the garage. The Split has a narrowed adjustable front beam
from an 1958 instead. Gearbox is stock 1968. I used to have a 1835cc in it
before but that engine is now in the Ghia.
Inside it is original beside the driverseat that has been replaced by the
former owner. The bug needed some paint so in 2001 I repainted it in an lightgrey
tone that was on sale in the local paintshop. It has almost no plastic filler on
the body because I want the bug to look a little bit old. I like it as it is."
Karmann Ghia
"The 1964 Ghia I bought from a friend who was tired of it. It is totally
restored but no cromed bumpers. I am searching for that. The interior is not
original style (too bad) but it is new. With the 1835cc engine it is a very
nice car to cruise in during summer."
