The ever classic Fuchs wheels arrived to 1967 model year of Porsche 911 and
ever since they have been sort of trade mark to classic 911s.
First ones came in 4.5x15" size and for 1968 model year the width was increased to 5.5, 6 inch
wheels arrived to 1969 model year (as option to 911E). 5.5x14" size was introduced for 1969 911E
and it was deleted from from production in 1971.
The design of wider 15" Fuchs changed during 70's due to tubeless design. Spokes became shorter
at some point and also the ET of the seven inchers was modified to widen the track.
Fuchs have been fitted to all kinds of
air-cooled Volkswagens ever since the early 70's. Can you even imagine
slammed Karmann Ghia or red Beetle Cabriolet without polished or
polished/detailed Fuchs.. Many Type IIs have received the 14"
version of the wheels.
Even though Fuchs are quite common wheels due to the fact that they were manufactured about
20 years, repros are offered by Midland Wheel Supplies
and Flat 4.
