VW&Porsche Custom Wheel Guide

Custom wheels for Volkswagens
The most common modification in California Lookers or Hot Rods in general is fitting a set of hot alloy wheels to the car. The first mag wheels came available in late 50's to Hot Rods. Automotive magazines from that era are full of advertisements from companies like American Racing or Halibrand.

EMPI was probably the first to offer custom wheels for Volkswagen being the Rader wheels in 1965, naturally there had been a possibility to fit Porsche 356 wheels to Beetle.

This guide
I try to cover interesting wheels at California Look, Resto Cal or Vintage point of view, including some Porsche wheels. This is a broad area and I haven't had time to put together all the stuff I have or know. I hate to put inconsistent and under construction stuff to public viewing, but I had to to it in order to get something on-line.

Like with all of my content in this site, all of your comments, corrections, additional information or photos are more than welcome. If you happen to know something I am missing please email me to: tero_virta@hotmail.com. Some of the 4x130mm bolt pattern wheels might not be intented for Volkswagens originally but I'll list them and remove until more information is found.

For example if you can identify the wheels below, please shed some light to me and fellow Volkswagen enthusiasts..
Jackman Ralle wheels from South Africa

You can navigate through the various wheel models by selecting the brand from the menu on the left hand side.
